From people I've talked to, most of it is PT stuff (getting in shape, cqc, etc.), there's a 1 week crash course on traffic law, and then some classwork stuff.

Is this good enough?

I didn't really feel like I knew what I was doing until I actually been in the field for at least a year.

Was watching Live PD with my girlfriend last night and an officer had stopped someone for suspicion of DUI. In the process of conducting a field sobriety test, the officer described himself as some sort of "drug specialist."

Given that there are researchers and clinicians who hold advanced degrees and devote their careers to drugs and medication, I just had to chuckle.
