His wife came knocking at 8 am. She said he was having respitory problems. I took him in and wished him well.
I would have offered to pick him up but of course there was no way of contacting me with a phone. He said he would walk (3 miles or so) back after sundown if a ride was not arranged. I'm just a helpful gentile. --- Nobody is perfect. Well, one guy was but we killed him. ... Copied to Clipboard!

Full-on Orthodox Jews aren't supposed to operate anything electronic or mechanical on Saturday, or do any sort of physical work.
There are actually businesses in areas with a high Orthodox/Hassidic population where non-Jews will literally come to your house in the morning to turn your lights and stuff on for you, and then come back later to turn it off. --- "Wall of Text'D!" --- oldskoolplayr76 "POwned again." --- blight family ... Yup, I'm just a goy in the world.

that's the thing though

You proved the overall time lost, which is fine, but that implies that someone lives a life that goes exactly 100 years, which is kinda useless.
Saying a fraction of an overall time unit, is just as valid and you don't have to make grand assumptions about people. The math is a bit fuzzy at the end (ie they died on the same day), but it's better than assuming overall life expectancy. I don't see how the math is bad either. ... Copied to Clipboard!

if we were to remove the 100 year as a variable, then that makes the 1/7th fraction even more wrong, since it definitely wouldn't add up to exactly 1/7th if it already doesn't at 100 years
