A more accurate statement would be that Spielberg has made a good fantasy / adventure film since Jurassic Park. I think Schindler's List was a turning point for Steven Spielberg. He'd reached dramatic high points never achieved before in his career, but he outgrew his inner child. He couldn't go back to being the "Cecil B. DeMille of science fiction." Spielberg's "serious" movies are generally all kinds of overrated. His best films are generally his 70s and early 80s work. Along with some of his early 2000s work. But yeah, no interest for this movie. and everything I've heard from reliable sources tells me the book is terrible.
