Did you care what desk you got?

Dont really like the poll design but it feels like I should have one.

Im left handed and I didnt notice a difference and I could not tell you which one was which unless I was in a room and could see what was more common.

It'd depend on the desk design. For university auditorium seats, where the writing surface folded out of the arm, lefty ones were horribly awkward to use (righty). For old-fashioned desks in lower grades, where the writing surface covered the full width of the seat and the only difference was whether it attached on the left or right side, it didn't matter as much.

Interesting, I wonder if more rightys care than lefties.

Its so hard to find good unbiased studies for stuff like this. Its such a trivial thing and only left handers care.

Probably. Us lefties are already used to everything being made for right handed people.

My desk is just an all identical rectangle. Nothing left or right handed about it. The desk I will someday get from my dad, it is mirrored in the middle, so also no left or right handedness about them.

I cannot even imagine how a desk could be left or right handed...

I agree with adjl. I'm a lefty and only noticed when it was those auditorium desks. I do try to sit at a table end when eating so I won't bump elbows with people. My husband and I are both lefties but our children are righties. It is hard to teach them them things with their hands.

What is weird is I don't notice what hand people use but I can't count the times while writing people remarked on me being left-handed.

Pretty much. We just kinda deal with it though.

I will say it's an advantage in sports though. For example, as a wrestler, every person I wrestled against was a righty, so I had plenty of experience against them, whereas I was most people's first lefty.

It's a small thing but probably helped my record out little bit.

The top shape and the bar where the seat is attached to the writing surface on many school desks.

I'm left-handed and I'm pretty sure I never used a left-handed desk.

I'm a lefty and it might be awkward to use a desk designed for righties but in the end, I managed to make it work and didn't really bother with it....

Righty desks are things I consider a small part of life.

Pretty much. By virtue of necessity, most lefties have had to adapt to right-handed stuff, so they tend to just quietly do so when lefty versions aren't available. The reverse is not true, though, so lefty stuff really throws righties off.

That makes one of us. I wish I had a pair of left handed scissors so that I could cut things easier. A couple times I've sat there trying to cut something with my left hand for a couple minutes without luck blaming it on dull blades until I realize, "Wait, no wonder this isn't working. Wrong hand. My fingers are pushing the blades apart." Then I switch to my right hand and it cuts perfectly.

I'm left handed and it has never effected adversely.

The end.
