I went for almost a month with mind numbing pain. It really is the worst and once it gets bad it just doesn't ease up. Like having a blowtorch at your gums for a month straight. In the end, even though I had never had a tooth pulled before, I almost begged my dentist to just rip it out already.
I miss my tooth, but fuck that pain.

I guess it depends on what you consider a toothache, tbh.

I got dental implants about 6 years ago. They pulled 15 teeth in one sitting. Front 5 teeth on my upper jaw, back molar on either side of the top, all 4 molars on the bottom, and 4 impacted wisdom teeth. When I went in for the first examination to decide what they were going to do, this is pretty much how the conversation went:

Dentist: How are you here?
Me: What?
Dentist: I mean...how are you physically able to walk around, let alone chew food? I can see the nerves from a couple of your teeth. I've had patients come in with one tooth like that and they could barely walk because of the pain making them dizzy.
Me: I dunno. It doesn't really hurt unless I do something stupid like try to bite into a hard candy.
Dentist: *taps one of the exposed nerves* Which tooth did I just touch?
Me: Top left incisor.
Dentist: So you have sensation, but it doesn't hurt? I've never seen anything like this before. O_O

Apparently I just have an incredibly high pain tolerance. I went probably 4 years or so with exposed nerves in a couple of my teeth without considering it a toothache.

The worst ones are actually the ones that mostly go away when you're up and about but the moment you try to go to bed or get some sleep it flares up.

The only relief I had was if I pressed my jaw against a cold pillow, would make the pain subside for about 20 seconds and then return.

I haven't been to the dentist in years. I haven't had a cavity pretty much ever, so I think I'm one of the lucky people who was born with strong teeth. Have a friend or two who have to take rigorous care of their teeth but still wind up with frequent cavities.

I have extreme fear of dentist. I just can't go there. Last time i had get a tooth extracted, and i was heavily medicated and it didn't help enough. 20mg propranolol and 10mg diatzepam and i was still feeling like i'd rather break my toes with a hammer than go there.

Currently i'm dealing with slight pain everyday, and one of my teeth is cracked or has cavity idk, can't bite hard things with it.

I have had teeth issues my whole life. No amount of brushing and flossing even prevented squat. I had all my permanent molars filled before I was 14. Had my top front teeth drilled and filled from cavities in my late teens/early twenties. A total of 4 root canals from those filling being shit. Toothaches became infections in all 4. That was when I was 23-27. And that first one was when I went 2 weeks with the pain before I went to the dentist. Between money and simply not wanting to deal with it despite the mind searing pain. I was trying every home remedy in the book and all the asprin I could handle. Just inhaling hurt. Top front tooth. The infected root went all the way up as it turns out. Swollen behind my nose. It felt like a searing hot ice pick or needle jammed behind my nose going to my eye. The other 3 were bad too but not quite that same level.

Eventually had most all the previous work redone plus had my wisdom teeth extracted by 29.
