You might have something that is really old that just got forwarded sold to a collections agency. I had a hospital bill I thought was paid sit there for three years and then get forwarded to a collections agency. All the bills were being sent to my old address so I never knew about it until it came out of my tax return.

Your current phone number, how recently did you recieve?

Ade thr calls requesting you or not leaving a name at all.

It can be three things, from most likely to least.

1. You have a "recycled" phonenumber, and these creditors are calling for someone else that had the number before you (and didnt know the person change thier number)
2. It is a fraud group calling you, phishing for personal info
3. It is your debt and from a forgotten bill you dont remember about

i've had it since i was like 20.


one issue i've been having since i switched to t-mobile was a huge uptick in calls from telemarketers and spam numbers. it's extremely annoying. so i don't know if it's truly a bill in collections or if it's just from that.

yeah that's why i said it's flagged as a collections agency. all the reviews say that it's a collections agency and you can't block the number because they'll just call on a different one.

have you put your number on the do not call registry?

Someone could have gave your number as a fake so when they didnt pay they wouldnt get called.

If it was legitimately a collection agency, then the Do Not Call list won't apply. I actually had a collection agency call a couple of years ago looking for someone I'd never heard of and they were cool about it and never called back.

yeah i know that much but hopefully it'll cut down on the stupid "public health survey" calls i've been receiving trying to get personally identifiable information from me.

In some cases it could be identify theft, where someone signs up as you gets a credit card and accrues a bunch of debt that is never paid off.

Chances are they purchased a debt that was paid off before it was removed from a list of cheap debtors for sale. Just ignore the calls if you have no bills that are behind, these guys hound people with any college debts for quick cash.

and i'm making payments on my medical bills

Who knows, most of them just buy a call list with the basic debtor information from a second hand institution and try collecting. Most of the time the debt was paid off and the list was never updated prior to being sold off to freelance debt collectors.
