its only worth it if you think the 'apple tax' is worth it. you can get practically identical hardware (minus the shiny, hipster logo) for less than $500 on a 'regular' laptop.

yea, it's a nice computer and the best apple laptop on the market atm. the $850 price makes it comparable with any other equivalent premium ultraportable laptop with those specs (dell xps, lenovo yoga, etc)

regular macbook is underpowered and the MBP is expensive, doesnt have USB ports or the magsafe charger, etc

Well, my thing is that I want a new lappy, and I figure that getting a Mac would force me to learn to be proficient in mac devices to aid me in finding future jobs. Seems all places of employment use macs nowadays, so I was thinking of getting one because of that.

If you're serious, it's possible it's good but for the love of all the pics you sent me, do so damn research on the stuff you want to do it with it and the actual models.

Because Macs can be pretty terrible for powerful stuff unless you fork out a lot of moolah

If you're getting an Apple computer, get a MacBook Pro or build a Hackintosh.

Also, this isn't the 90s. If you know how to use a Windows PC, you can use a Mac.

Most places I have went to in Boston use them. The place I interned with used macs. So doesn't the spa I use. I feel like there's transitioning everywhere going towards macs.

It's with the black friday deal event going on. It says standard, it is 1100. Their price is 999. But with the black friday event, it is 850.

also Say, sign up with the Best Buy college program, that will get you another $100 or so off of your laptop.

I bought a Surface Pro 4 at best buy recently and the sales associate told me to sign up with the student discount program because it'd save me a little money. i have not been in school for years but he told me you can just sign up with a regular gmail (dont need an edu account) and it will still give you the discount

As a Mac enthusiast, the Pro is only a few more bucks and is infinitely better

Airs have been overdue for an update for years now

And it's painless to run Windows on a Mac and swap between them, don't let that influence your decision.

Also check out the refurbished page on apples site. Got a 2013 Air for my wife for Christmas 2013. Was only $825.

Their refurbished policy replaces the hard drive, casing, and gives you the standard 1 year warranty you'd get with a new one.
