For a movie that's all about pacing and hitting beats, it kind of unravels at the end and has four or five endings before the actual ending. Kind of strange to lose its stride

I agree with the spoiler tagged part, as well. That bit came out of nowhere and made no sense to me. The romance aspect of the movie as well made no sense. ENDING SPOILERS So this girl he just met finds out he's a getaway driver, shoots a man in front of her, flee together, then she tries to run away from the law with him and instead waits 5-6 years for him to get out of jail? yeah. Freaking. Right.

He could've found another buyer. I agree that it was sudden, but even though he'd threatened Baby earlier it seemed like he genuinely liked him so I guess that explains

Red Letter Media's review is dead on, the movie is really really good, but doesn't come anywhere close to the Cornetto trilogy.

edit: obviously not. But he's the bassist of the Red Hot Chili Peppers, and he's regularly considered one of the best bassists ever. But I think he's one of the best musicians of our times.

He's the bassist for the Red Hot Chili Peppers and a self-proclaimed method actor. He's been in Back to the Future 2 and a couple other films. He was also the voice of that wild kid in The Wild Thornberrys whose name I forget
