@Leanaunfurled Gender dysphoria isn't a mental illness. It was declassified as a mental disorder by the DSM-5 in 2013. Modern scientific research has indicated transsexualism is most likely neurological, caused by something to do with the development of a baby's brain during pregnancy (probably due to hormones or genetics).

I can see the parallel, but I don't know if I agree... It seems like it's in a different ballpark, given so many people with gender dysphoria seek to "cure" it themselves by seeking reassignment surgery. If there really were a way to put a baby's brain and body in alignment during pregnancy, I think a lot of transgendered people might wish their parents had taken it.

During my time here, I have found The_Admiral to be a very offensive person with very offensive views, but I don't think I would have suspended him for that particular topic. If indeed that's what he was suspended for.

When you get suspended, it isn't because of one instance... in many cases it's because multiple times you broken the TOS. I have a feeling most people who get suspended knows the stuff they post will get them suspended and are constantly trying to tip toe on the line to see how far they're willing to go.

I don't think that, and I agree. I'm an ally of the T in LGBT, and I think it's very sad how people want to sweep people with gender dysphoria under a rug... Can't speak for his modding ability, though for a few years now (like, 3 or 4 years) it's become steadily more obvious that he's extremely prejudiced. He just keeps adding to it. Indeed he used to be more capable of holding intellectual conversation and it was interesting seeing his side of things, but that has become less and less the case. Anymore it's rare to see him post something of value.

Not an offensive or outrageous question given many gay/trans lead more difficult Iives for a multitude of reasons.
