we ran out of tiramisu. boss tells me to make more despite the fact it's busy and i don't really have time to do that.

a different employee working the same position runs out of tiramisu. boss just says to take it off the menu OR the boss makes more so the employee doesn't have to.

when I worked at Wal-Mart, definitely. I was hired on as an overtime stocker and because they knew I worked hard, they'd add multiple other stuff for me to do that wasn't my job, meanwhile they'd coddle the slackers.

My logic is always go above and beyond and hopefully the upper managements will notice and give you a good raise or promotion. If not then it's time to move on. I also tell this to the person interviewing me for a new job.

pretty much. working in a restaurant should almost never be a long term career plan because employees are consistently paid far less than in other lines of work, even for high-skilled jobs

Yep. Lived with a chef who was probably in the top 3 of his profession in the entire state. If they had michelin stars in Australia, he'd be a Michelin star chef for sure.

And yet, despite his 20+ years working at the top of his profession managing the finest restaurants in town, he was lucky to break $85k, working 90 hour weeks. I can't imagine rising to that level of responsibility and skill and not even breaking 6 figures.

It did at my second job. I own 6 or 7 projects at a time while other engineers own one. And it's not that my projects we're smaller easier ones. I passed on a couple of them before, and they always put 2 or 3 engineers on it after me.

thats not it. he has a boss that doesnt pay attention to what the fuck they are donig and its hurting his employees efficiency.

Yea it's true.

I didn't have to go to school for too long to get a certificate and a servsafe.

Landing jobs in classy places only marginally increased my income.

@TC My guess would be you're probably the only one there that can make one that sells.
