Kind of. I thought at the end that the boy would have some kind of heart problem, and the little people would need to reveal themselves to the aunt to save him. But nah, nothing ever came of it at all.

yeah that part at the end ticked me off too they spent the whole film developing the boys friendship with arrietty and then it just ends on her leaving without us finding out if the kid dies or not

It's decent enough. There are a good amount of their other movies that are worse (Castle in the Sky, Howl's Moving Castle, Ocean Waves, The Cat Returns, From Up on Poppy Hill)

I don't know if it's the most disappointing but it definitely is disappointing. My friend doesn't seem to understand what I mean though. The movie plateaus.

Also Howl'a Moving Castle was great come on. Castle in the sky too.

The only ones I haven't seen are Tales From Earthsea and The Castle of Cagliostro. Pom Poko is pretty decent; its biggest problem is that it's too long.

There we go, here's a decent answer. People make a lot of claims of "worst" Ghibli film when they don't know some of the awful lesser known ones. It's like saying some Disney princess film is the worst Disney movie when there are some really embarrassing obscure ones out there.

Tbh, some of these "awful" lesser known ones are actually some of their best stuff. Only Yesterday, Whisper of the Heart, My Neighbors the Yamadas and The Tale of Princess Kaguya are all pretty phenomenal.

Ooh..I love all those films. What I like about them is their interplay of subtle yet powerful emotions. I especially felt that in From Up on Poppy Hill. But to each his own.

This. They aren't Spirited Away or Princess Mononoke, but still fun. One that I feel seems under appreciated is When Marnie Was There.

Out of all the ones I've watched, I'd probably hafta say Ponyo by the Sea was the most disappointing.

I personally didn't like Castle in the Sky.
