The One Piece manga is 20 years old, old enough to now legally drink and smoke in Japan. at the time it came out, the western world had only just been introduced to the anime boon that Dragonball Z and Sailor Moon started. not even Pokemon has had it's western anime debut at the time.

Barely remember it from those heavily edited 4 Kids episodes, should probably catch up sometime. apparently it's still doing well, when anime like Naruto/Bleach was still stuck in filler hell?

Nope, the manga came out in japan on 19th July 1997. kinda startling how massive it still is when other large anime has came and gone. kinda weird that there's emphasis on either time skips or new reboots coming out. hoping that Dragon Quest XI (we've gone over 8 years since IX, not counting online/japan-only X. more years for outside of japan) doesn't cause Hunter x Hunter to go into yet another hiatus.

I got burned out post-timeskip. Sanji wasn't getting enough love, imo. It turned into the Luffy and Zoro show.

I just got tickets to my local Comiccon today and there are going to be at least 2 voice actors from the anime there....Chuck Huber and Mike McFarland (who also played Master Roshi!).

20 years and has only covered less than a year of the journey. Not counting flashbacks or the timeskip of course, because the timeskip was a pause of the journey for training. But even counting that it's still 20 years to cover less than 3 OP years.

It's still alright but the Dressrossa arc is fucking trash compared to the previous. Not so much because of the content, but because the pace has slowed down so badly.

The pace has been bothering me since they got to the Grand line. I watch the series once every six months now, so the filler doesn't matter and I can just watch the 5 minutes of contents that there ends up being smashed between the filler and the recaps. I probably wouldn't watch it otherwise.

Reread it. It was absolutely shitty reading it week to week for damn near two years (felt like three). But I went back and purchased all of the volumes and it's a much better read.
