The American Public has an appetite for impeachment as only 6 months in, impeaching Trump is more popular than impeaching NIXON during his presidency!!

A Monmouth Poll suggested that 41% of the public think he should be impeached while 53% disagree.

The same question was asked in 1973 during Richard Nixon's 2nd term of the Watergate scandal and only 24% supported impeaching him. It showed that 62% of American were opposed to impeaching Nixon, 44 years ago as well.

Despite more americans wanting to see Trump go, he and Nixon had the same job approval ratings as well..

39% of them approve of Trump's performance while 52% disagree

In Nixon's term, he received 39% approval and 49% disapproval.

Patrick Murphy said "Even though Trump's approval rating is similar to Nixon's, more Americans support impeachment today than in 1973"

In 1973, Just 1/3 of Democrats wanted impeachment of Nixon and today 70% of Democrats support impeaching Trump

Support to impeach Trump is slightly stronger among independents and Republicans now as 22% of independents wanted to impeach Nixon while 32% want to impeach Trump

7% of Republicans wanted to impeach Nixon and 12% want Trump impeached today.

Nixon also had more of the Democrat vote with 24%, and though still bad, Trump only got 7% of them.

Nixon held the office for another 13 months after that poll before resigning from office and escaping impeachment on August 9th, 1974.

Considering that Nixon won re-election by a huge margin while Trump won by a close margin, this really shouldn't be surprising. Plus the calls to impeach GWB were pretty popular.

It's something of an enduring legacy to our nation that every president lately has had people pushing for impeachment

...if he wasn't interested, he wouldn't have run for president. As for the claim it's ruining his life, all of the major damage happened during the campaign and it'd be worse for him if he resigned. He can only see it through to the end to come out on top. If he resigns now, that's a tacit confession to all of the allegations made against him.

Yeah, that drove me insane last year. Between the Democrats and their conspiracies and the other Republicans on how they could possibly prevent him from getting the nomination, it was insane.

Probably. Four of the six presidents in my lifetime have had sizable impeachment movements.

It would be the best thing that could happen to the country right now, not to mention the best thing that could happen for the Republican party.

Haven't read any of the links, but it's probably considerably easier to vote in/on a poll today than what it was in 1973.

This isn't stating any political opinions on either of those two, just stating its silly to compare a poll from then to now.

I agree, they have their uses but with margin of errors so high and biases difficult to avoid people put too much faith in them.
