Sounds like you're doing pretty well on budgeting.
I'm guessing rent is a pretty large part of that $1400 but if not, you can probably cut a good many corners if you're interested. Pairing sales with coupons, for example, can save you hundreds every month. --- ... Copied to Clipboard!

Yeah not bad at all. There's definitely room to cut on groceries if you're interested. Mrs. DevsBro and I lived on $165/mo in groceries when we first got married. You can get frozen chicken for around a dollar a pound at Aldi, and bread for a dollar a loaf. Of course, it's a whole chicken so lots of work is involved, and it's not great bread either. There's a reason we only did that as long as we had to... but I mean, options and all.

Oh, one other big thing. It would probably be well worth it to pay some of that $300 toward student loans. The faster you can pay those down (especially early on), the better.

I have never shopped at Aldis but I might check them out. My sams membership helps a lot. Not everything at Sam's club is a good deal. Some stuff is cheaper but some stuff is more expensive hidden in the guise of "buying in bulk is always better!!!"

1700 dollars a month / (8 Hours a day * 5 days a week * avg 4.34524 weeks a month) = You are banking $9.78 an hour from your job. That's after they remove taxes, which is usually 20% of your total pay. That means you are making about $12.20 an hour? That's 2.20 above minimum wage, at least where I live, which is pretty good. More than I make, certainly.
