I take home about $1700 a month, and my cost of living by month is about $1400.

That is of course while doing nothing basically.

Sounds like you're doing pretty well on budgeting.

I'm guessing rent is a pretty large part of that $1400 but if not, you can probably cut a good many corners if you're interested. Pairing sales with coupons, for example, can save you hundreds every month.

670 a month, plus internet and electricity. ($44+how much i use)
160 for car insurance
10 for renters insurance
Around 120 for student loans
200 for groceries and supplies (I have a sams club memnership so I buy essentials in bulk)
50-60 in gas
60 for cell phone

I think that is it.

Yeah not bad at all. There's definitely room to cut on groceries if you're interested. Mrs. DevsBro and I lived on $165/mo in groceries when we first got married. You can get frozen chicken for around a dollar a pound at Aldi, and bread for a dollar a loaf. Of course, it's a whole chicken so lots of work is involved, and it's not great bread either. There's a reason we only did that as long as we had to... but I mean, options and all.

Oh, one other big thing. It would probably be well worth it to pay some of that $300 toward student loans. The faster you can pay those down (especially early on), the better.

I have never shopped at Aldis but I might check them out. My sams membership helps a lot. For instance I got 50 rolls of toilet paper for $20, which last me almost a year, and like 200 trash bags for $15.

Not everything at Sam's club is a good deal. Some stuff is cheaper but some stuff is more expensive hidden in the guise of "buying in bulk is always better!!!"

I love Aldi. It's my wife and I go to grocery store. Everything is cheap and good quality. Don't forget your quarter.

I technically have a 401k right now that is saving a little, but yeah its not like my income is going to put away any amount of money to live off of in old age.

I don't plan on retiring at all. I'm working until I can't breathe anymore but I like your budget saving though. So I commend you but the baby boomers screwed us all, man.

That's considered good? I guess I shouldn't feel bad about spending so much then, I get upset if I save less than $200 per week.

That's really good. My wife don't really save anything these days. >_> We really need to go back to our newlywed budget, or closer to it. >_>

But yeah, saving $300 a month is pretty awesome. As is Sam's Club, but like BlazinBlue said they have some amazing deals but also randomly have either on par with typical groceries or downright bad deals.

I can think of at least 2 explanations for that.

#1: your cat actually eats cat food, and doesn't brush after it's done eating.
#2: you have cat food stuck in your nose, and basically everything smells like cat food, not just the cat's breath.

1700 dollars a month / (8 Hours a day * 5 days a week * avg 4.34524 weeks a month) = You are banking $9.78 an hour from your job. That's after they remove taxes, which is usually 20% of your total pay. That means you are making about $12.20 an hour? That's 2.20 above minimum wage, at least where I live, which is pretty good. More than I make, certainly.

Damn I wish my rent was 600.

I take home like 2,500-3000

1250 rent
50 comed
120 internet/cable combo
250 car payment

Luckily work pays my car insurance and I have no debt. I didn't even have a car payment until last month when I bought a new mustang. Not including food we eat and food for cats and puppy

13.13. Between taxes, health insurance, and my 401k I loose about $200 per check
