He doesn't. People get confused about this because genetics is complicated, but it's actually perfectly fine.

Solid and Liquid are genetically identical (though MGS4 retcons this) at the genotype level, but have opposite phenotypes. That is, Liquid's hair is bleached blonde, Snake's is left dark, etc.

Liquid makes this pretty clear:

Liquid : But father was wounded in combat and already in a coma when they
brought him in. So they created us from his cells... with a
combination of 20th century analog cloning and the Super Baby
Method.

Snake : Super Baby Method?

Liquid : They fertilized an egg with one of father's cells, and then let it
divide into eight clone babies. Then they transferred the clones
to someone's uterus and later intentionally aborted six of the
fetuses to encourage strong fetal growth... You and I were
originally octuplets.

Snake : Octuplets...

Liquid : Yes. The other six of our brothers were sacrificed to make us. We
were accomplices in murder before the day we were even born. So it

People think the dominant/recessive thing.is backwards (that Liquid was dominant and Solid was recessive) because Ocelot says that "the inferior one was the winner afterall" but he says this not making Liquid's misinformed equivalence between superior/dominant and inferior/recessive. Liquid shows ober the next couple of paragraphs thst he has absolutely no grasp of what scientific principles actually imply, and kind of go out of their way to make it clear that he's insane.

Ocelot was probably referring to Liquid's more extensive training with BB himself, and maybe also taking a jab at the deceased madman's faulty logic.

This directly flies in the face of the briefing where it is stated that all the members of FoxHound were geniuses who had enough of a knowledge of genetics that giving them Big Bosses remains was a threat.

Basically, Kojima is kind of a shit writer that makes up for it with great characters and execution (except in the case of MGS V)

Actually, IIRC it was the Genome Soldiers who were the geniuses with 180 IQ's who could perform their own gene experiments on themselves.

But, everything having to do with the genome soldiers pretty much confirms your "Kojima is a shitty writer" stance because the briefing has a bunch of weird shit that contradicts itself within seconds of each other. IIRC, within the span of a minute it's said that the Genome Soldiers were all former US Special Forces, then it is stated that *actually* a lot of them were made up of Big Bossees soldiers from Outer Heaven, *then* it's stated that they are from a bunch of different nationalities, then it's stated that they're actually a bunch of inexperienced kids who were trained in VR, before finally stating that they were all US Army and were deemed super patriotic based on their psyche evaluations.

Kojima couldn't make up his fucking mind on what their makeup actually was, and in the end it made no fucking sense that they were geniuses when they acted as dumb in gameplay as they did.
