It goes 2>1=3 imo but I like 3 a lot. All 3 are still among my favorite RPGs

I've only played 1 and 3. 3 is better imo. I like the interconnectivity of the world in the first one. But starting with Cathedral of the Deep, the environments are better in 3 I think. Plus all the bosses in 3 have two phases, which annoyed me in the first playthrough, but it gives the bosses another layer of depth. After playing 3, going back to fight the bosses in the first game just feels too simple.
