Teepees were used by the plains Indians and while the plains extend up into Canada I wonder how many tribes in present day Canada actually lived in teepees.

Why did it even those graphics. That's pretty random

All I know about Canada and its indigenous people is that it's pretty racist up there towards them. The article does a good job at making it sound like this was purposeful but I think some actual Canadians should come in and give their two cents on it

Canada had a history of up into like the 60s of taking Native children from their parents and putting them in boarding schools to educate and "civilise" them, basically, believing that Native parents were utterly incapable of doing so themselves. Visiting their own children was discouraged.

There was really a whole hell of a lot wrong with the residential schools.

There's also this where the children in schools were used as guinea pigs for various medical tests.

I'm struggling to come up with a reason why that onesie even existed in the first place. Usually when you have graphic design onesies, they are cutesy or boastful about the parents. I can't think of any context other than the one presented where that onesie even makes sense. How anachronistic is it to have arrows and teepees on a onesie, especially considering Canada's rich history with residential schools? I'd really like to know whichever company made that onesie, and figure out why they thought it was a good idea on the first place.

Edit: Oh, it's the Walmart house brand clothing line. Some graphic designer is getting shit canned.

60s? Try the 90s, as that was when the last residential school was finally closed.

Like a "dumbass troll" tag or like a "easily confused by context" tag or like a straight up "stays dumb shit about race" tag?

Nah it's "posted racist ****" which means he said something really fucked up before that made me tag him but you were kind of close with that last one

I only tag people like that when they say something extremely blatant
