Not much to tell really. For obvious reasons I'd rather not name it or the company. I'll just say we were contracted by a larger NGO

It was about water in developing nations. Failures, successes, techniques, privatization, etc

I was the sound guy on it

We traveled to several nations in South America and Africa, interviewed politicians, businessmen, activists, etc.

Haven't followed its progress since we put it in the can, not sure what the organization is doing with it.

Sounds like there is a lot to tell if you did all that and traveled to all those countries. What are some things you saw. What stuck with you

Well

Stayed overnight in a smaller village in rural South Africa. That was rather spooky.

Some members of the crew were fed spider by the people who were housing us. I ended up excusing myself to avoid it.

Since the crew was mostly white (there was about 7 of us) particularly in a lot of the rural areas we went, we were kinda gawked at by people. I went into a supermarket (general store? I dunno what they called it) and everyone just kinda looked at me. I could feel their looks. It was a very weird exposure kinda thing.

Honestly my favorite parts were just the bits outside of filming. Having real interactions with people in different nations/cultures. Met with a guy named "Oli" in Honduras. Turns out his father worked at a gas company his whole life and named him "Oliver" after an American he was friends with at the company. When he found out I was raised in Canada he was all "ah I like Canada" and then went on about how "if there's trouble then the Queen always sends her boys down here to help"

According to a government official we talked to in Ethiopia, there's a lot of people in very isolated tribal communities who still believe that colonialism is a thing. Which I'd believe. I heard stories of tribals in Afghanistan and stuff who think they're still fighting the British

In a broader sense, I did have sympathy for the people who are all "waaahh globalization". A lot of the smaller communities we visited are being totally fucked over by larger nations or corporations.
