King Vendrick met a woman named Nashandra who would one day become his Queen.

Queen Nashandra told Vendrick of the dangerous Giants across the sea and said to steal something of theirs of which she would use to gain access to the Throne of Want and claim the power of the First Flame.

King Vendrick realized the betrayal of his Queen and set up many walls and traps that would prevent this non-human from reaching the throne, and locked himself far away where she could not reach him.

You bypass all the walls and traps and gain access to the Throne of Want, opening the way to Nashandra, and now that she has no use for you, it's time for you to die.

with the release of Scholar of the First Sin, there's an extra ending you can get buy killing Vendrick, fighting Aldia, and leaving

Miyazaki got lucky with DS1 and hasn't been able to recapture what makes that game great since.

Miyazaki got lucky with DS1 and hasn't been able to recapture what makes that game great since.

Bloodborne was pretty fucking great.

DS3 tried too much to be DS1 reimagined as BB, but I do appreciate how polished the game is.
