There are some classic examples of this, but I'm deliberately leaving it open ended.

What's been the most difficult thing about you or your life that you've told your family?

How long did you consider it before going through with it?

How did they react?

Do you have any advice for someone with your same situation?

Are you sure? Like has that already happened to someone else in your family?

Better one actually would be me telling them I wanted to move to Colorado. They took offense that I didn't want to be close to them and that I wanted to move 2000 miles away.

while i dont literally know for sure, i know my parents well enough to guess their reactions. theyre very old school, with religion being the #1 most important thing in their lives, and they consider atheists complete scum

Telling them I no longer want to live and that I'm depressed and that I need help.

Many years.

They just told me to man up and deal with it... but also looked for repercussions of getting diagnosed for mental sickness in Malaysia. The results weren't pretty.

Honestly? I don't know.

Have you sought help?

Yup! We didn't speak for the first 4 months but they came around and reached out to me and our relationship is the healthiest it has ever been.

mom's death.
varied on the family member. one knew the same night. others still don't know. others know but i haven't told, it just spread.

varied. those who knew her condition well weren't surprised. those who didn't were surprised.
advice? know that the aftermath doesn't come off very human and costs money so if you've time to prep it's very, very valuable. you've got paperwork, people to pay, and gotta make arrangements quick. depending on family situation and how many people are involved your speed of the important aspects (inheritance, rent, what to do with the body) should go as fast as 1 week to 2 months.
