Extra hard drive, internal or external, then simply copy/paste whatever.

2TB external hard drive for backing up things that I'm not going to access very often. (Backup of my music, films, documents, games, etc.)
1TB portable hard drive for stuff I will access more often. (Recently it's been holding my /home folder because I spent a lot of time hopping between Linux distros. I don't do that anymore.
No actual backup of OS's or anything. I live dangerously.
(The difference between "external" and "portable" is the external one uses a separate power supply.)

Eventually what I'd like to do is get my stuff arranged thusly:
2TB+ portable as a replacement for the external (I hate needing to use the external power supply.)
1TB portable just for my high-quality music (So I can easily hook it up to a high-quality system and have it all there for easy access.)
1TB+ portable solely for partition backups.

This is LinksLiege's signature. It is fantastic.

Just get a 4tb external for $100-$120 and be good to go for a long while unless you're trying to back up a large and high quality video collection.

Well I'd just back up one folder that has all the shit I want.

So I won't be bringing anything bad over I don't think.
