They carried oil lamps as they walk down the aisle and as the Litany of the Saints was recited, they lay prostrate.. Archbishop Allen Vigneron gave them a ring and put veils over their heads along with a prayer book..then they sang "I am a spouse to him, whom the angels serve, sun and moon stand in wonder at his glory. The women said they are very happy and were elated to marry Christ as they felt aligned with HIS VIRGINITY, his purity and his sufferings..Theresa also said "To be mystically espoused to him, it was very joyful" The women felt called to religious life as Karen is a principal at a Catholic girls school, Laurie works for a publishing company and Theresa is a French teacher at Marygrove College. Theresa said that people are critical of this but said "in today's society, virginity is often criticized, it's made fun of. To b e in this world where there's lots of sexual immorality and perversion, this is a great task set before me, but it's one i look forward to overcoming and help others learn the beauty of virginity and chastity in this world" There are 250 consecrated virgins in the US and 4000 worldwide..
