Recently I took a friend with only a high school degree to lunch. Insensitively, I led her into a gourmet sandwich shop. Suddenly I saw her face freeze up as she was confronted with sandwiches named “Padrino” and “Pomodoro” and ingredients like soppressata, capicollo and a striata baguette. I quickly asked her if she wanted to go somewhere else and she anxiously nodded yes and we ate Mexican.

Why are NYT opinion pieces so awful? I know they are opinions but they are smug, so regressive all the time. They are basically gawker level nonsense.

I am not going to pay 2 dollars a week for that shit.

What is it with normal everyday foods naming themselves ridiculous words to sound fancy?

Coffee with milk, chocolate and some other basic thing you have in your cabinet is a mocha moo frappalupe cheeny weeny bendroxalezen.

But but but they heat the milk to a specific temperature before mixing it with the coffee.
