Sonic's fanbase is pretty bad. You should see the pathetic nerd rage that happens if anyone bashes Sonic Adventure 1 or 2. Game Grumps played SA 1 and every episode had full blown meltdowns in the comments, shit was hilarious.

i mean its true....The game itself isn't great, but it is playable. But they billed it as SONIC 4..the next game in the original series....and it wasn't even close to that....Its one reason so many people hate it. They approached it with a certain expectation and that expectation wasn't met. Sega fucked up...As a modern Sonic game its meh but not terrible.

Sonic 4 is more like a half assed re-boot of the franchise. They straight up ripped off levels from the first games - and did a really half assed job of making them fun. Then they had the newer gameplay mechanics and it didn't feel right.

Sonic 4 wasn't HORRIBLE. It was okay. Could have been a lot better but I didn't want to claw my own face off while playing it.

Plus E2 showed signs of improvement.

I thought it was also better than the a lot of the handheld Sonic games over the years, which pretty much all just boiled down to pressing right on the d-pad and watching Sonic go really fast.

Nobody seems to understand what made the classic Sonic games fun was the challenge of keeping up your momentum despite the obstacles littering the way. So many of the Advance series levels can be beaten by holding right and memorizing the 2-3 times you have to jump.

Agreed. If you really want boost mode save it for a fun extra like Super Sonic.

While learning Unity I made a physics based, Sonic-like 2D character controller that handles better than Sonic 4. I have to wonder what talentless amateurs they hired for that game.

Yup. Even in 2D mode there's all sorts of subtle invisible boosters to help push you along to reach platforms and stuff because their controls are so stiff and their level design is ass. That bugged the shit out of me. You really start noticing them if you decide to backtrack and explore, they're all over the place.

Remember that time when CEmen born in like 2000 played Sonic 4 part 2 and complained on how hard it was?
