Would this competition work in a 1 on 1 match. I got the playstation later in its run, so I'm not super familiar with it but I know that N64 has more than a handful of games that are still considered the greatest of all time. Would playstation have some exclusives that would be able to hold their own and anything that could defeat Ocarina of time/super mario 64?

Final Fantsy VII(-IX) most likely.

The Final Fantasy games are the big jewel in the crown. Chrono Cross and the Lunar games (although different versions of the latter showed up on the Sega CD, Sega Saturn, and PSP) too, for the RPG enthusiasts. But nothing else comes to mind. Playstation was definitely an RPG fan's dream.

N64 had Mario 64, Banjo Kazooie, Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask. It also had some games which were incredible at the time but which have since been surpassed in Goldeneye and Mario Kart 64.

IX was an exclusive, but VII and VIII weren't.

Although PS1 is an RPG fan's dream, the N64 has a titan of its own in Paper Mario. While it's not conventional compared to FF/Chrono Cross/Legend of Dragoon, it's one of the best games I've ever played. That's for damn sure.

Who wins in 3D platformers? At first glance, PS1 has nothing as great as SM64 or Banjo; it just has good stuff in Crash Bandicoot and Spyro. But actually, it's got Ape Escape, which EASILY holds up to SM64. It doesn't win PS1 the overall 3D-platformers contest (not even close -- 64's arsenal is way too expansive), but it gives PS1 something superb.

PS1 also has Tomba 1 and 2, neither of which is similar to any 64 game -- or any game I've ever played. I think Tomba 2 is one of the best games ever made, easily. And it's absolutely unique.

I'd give 64 the edge in exclusives, but they've both got incredible stuff.

PS1 wins in terms of overall tbh. N64 has some great classics but so does the PS1...and it has more of them.
