Tony Stark isn't a playboy in this movie at all. They kept the stuff with Pepper pretty vague. The engagement was just a quick announcement since they lost Spider-man as an Avenger.
he's literally just out drinking and having a good time at that yoga retreat or whatever that was while some dudes are out dealing space weapons and tearing up queens.
she flat out fucking kisses him, the fuck you mean it's vague? it was a flat out "she left me" in civil war, now it's like everything is all fine and dandy.
Yoga retreat is being a playboy? He's Tony Stark. When Peter tells him he tips off the FBI about it so they can deal with it. He considers it below his paygrade.
I mean that we don't know the details of what's happened. Their break up was a throwaway line and now they're back together between the two movies. Does this really matter? ---
he comes off like he just doesn't give a shit, which is like a complete 180 from his character in civil war. if you can't see that i don't know what to tell you. i get that they needed parker to handle it on his own, but the fact he was so present while also not being present feels off and makes it feel like he's just not taking his role seriously anymore. they should have just had him not answering because he's straight up just too busy not having him just ignoring peter and then putting the fbi of all people on the case ---

Since everyone else did: Wasn't Tony's motivation in the Accords so that he could start working to get Pepper back, or at least that was implied? Her absence feels like it pushes him through the first part of the movie and he sees Cap refusing to sign as an obstacle to getting her back.
Will admit Civil War has been a while for me though. ---
No, he flat out says that he couldn't give up Iron Man and that's why he lost her. Being Iron Man was all he had so he went into the accords so he wouldn't lose that.
At least that's how I always took it. I never took it as a thing to get Pepper back. I don't see why she'd care all that much about the accords tbqh. ---
I figure Tony didn't go all guns blazing against the vulture because he's still trying to be pro reg. That's why he told Peter to leave it alone and got the FBI instead of going himself. ---

Err I think you needed to pay attention a bit more? He likes to give the impression that he didn't give a shit about Peter but he did the entire time.
Peter thinks he isn't reaching Tony at all when he is leaving the voice mail messages. Turns out Tony was in fact listening to every single message and knew about all of his stories (which is why he mentions the free churro Peter got for helping the lady across the street).
He doesn't want Peter to deal with the weapons. It's dangerous. That's why he tips off the FBI and tells him to stop. That's why he gets angry when Peter messes that up. He is seeing Peter as the same reckless guy Tony used to be.
He also gets angry when Peter is attached to the suit because Tony went through that character arc in Iron Man 3. He sees Peter repeating the same mistakes he did.
Tony isn't distant because he doesn't care. He is distant because he is protective of Peter. He doesn't want to mess up his life. He was literally keeping an eye on Peter the entire time. ---

The fuck are you talking about? He shows up to save the ferry. He gives plenty of advice and concern towards Peter. You have no idea what kind of Indian yoga event he was at. It definitely wasn't a rager. And it seems like you DON'T understand that Spider-Man had to do this on his own. . ---
