Cast Berserk on them. Cast Rydia's strongest spells. Shouldn't be too much effort.

I enjoyed FF4 but this was my biggest problem toward the end of the game (in the 3D version, anyway). Every single monster began to feel like a mini-boss with a very specific way of dealing with them and if you just tried to freestyle, every fight was a slog.

Which isn't a bad thing but in the last areas especially it was a mini-boss every two steps it felt like.

Behemoths always counter-attack and IIRC the ones in FF4 never attack until you do.

Witches? Turn 'em into frogs. Moon Maidens? Have Cecil in the back row with draw attacks. Behemoths? Berserk, slow, and blink protects you. Red Giants? Lightning and Slow. Moon Masks? Reflect yourself and cast Slow + Flare to reflect it. Red and Blue Dragons? Slow and Berserk.

Basically, Slow and Berserk are a godsend in the Lunar Subterrane.

they do attack they're just insanely slow. I don't remember having too much problem with them. Just use protect, I guess.

They're not HARD to kill, they just take forever. They have a lot of health and the max damage I can do is about 3000.

That's basically my point, though. It's not that it's hard it's that you have to do x or you're gonna run out of MP/HP too fast for the rest of the dungeon. Access to the internet makes this not so bad due to guides but if I was purely offline, that's a LOT of trial and error. It almost became a puzzle game.

People keep saying to berserk the behemoth but what does it do? I tried it and didn't notice anything other than higher damage.

stop using ragnarok/holy lance if you aren't already

equip poison axe and defender on cecil/kain, everything in this dungeon is resistant to holy except the 2 undead mobs

red dragons are complete bitches to fight, even berserked they can still chunk you for 3~5k, which is enough to kill rydia or rosa in 1 hit

for behemoth use protect and slow, they have a lot of hp but if you avoid directly attacking them you should be fine

I had Bless on Edge and Rosa to pray to replenish MP. That was usually enough to make it to a save point, or just teleport out if you're low on MP. Bio is a very efficient spell, often doing almost 2k damage to a single target for 20mp while inflicting sap status. I used that if I wanted to save my MP. The most dangerous grouping of enemies is 1 Witch/2 MoonMaiden, so it helps to have your auto-attack set up to expressly deal with those (Edge>Bless, Rydia>Toad, Rosa>Pray, Cecil>Kick [really strong with draw attacks+counter], and Kain>attack).

Also, I recommend having Kain equip the Avenger; it's really strong and inflicts Berserk status on yourself. You'll do more DPS with that than you would with just jumping.

Slow is more important than Berserk, but Berserk keeps it from using its most annoying attacks. Behemoth used to be able to use Meteor, and I'm assuming he can here as well. He hasn't when I fought him, though.

Uh, no? Ragnarok does obscene damage to pretty much everything, and there are no holy-resistant mobs in Lunar Subterrane. The last holy-resistant mob I fought was the Healing Orb during the CPU fight in Giant of Babil.

That's not true. There are some enemies that are generally immune to elemental damage period (mind, breath, or soul... one of the three is totally immune) and there are even enemies that will straight up heal holy damage.

But the Behemoths are not one of those enemies.

No idea, because I haven't run into them yet. There are enemies that do have elemental resistances, but none of them seriously impact the damage that the Ragnarok can do. The mind, body, and spirit enemies are on the very final floor of Lunar Subterrane, and I haven't run into those guys yet, opting to hop over them with safe travel so I could complete the map and get my item drop augment. I'm currently farming tails for onion gear. I got two of them really easily - the black and green tails. However, I've been stuck on the yellow tail for quite some time. I've been waiting until I can get a solid block of time where I can just sit there farming with sirens, and if I don't get it by the time I hit a certain amount of sirens used, I'll just reload.

I find it a little weird that the SNES Classic still refers to Final Fantasy 6 as Final Fantasy 3 in America. Especially since all the ports on the Playstation and GBA still refer to it as 6.
