Like when you get lost driving into the airport to drop someone off and accidentally end up having to pay $5 just to pass through. Fucking airports.

I work in a parking garage where you take a ticket when you enter and present it to pay when you leave. I used to let people go without charging them if I could tell by the print time that they couldn't have possibly parked in the amount of time they were in there. The boss started breathing down my neck asking how there were all these discrepancies between cards printed and cards punched/money taken in, and I tried all kinds of excuses about the machine not printing, double printing, kids playing with it, etc. but he eventually upgraded everything with a very rigid system that made it so the only reason there could be a discrepancy is if I intentionally allowed it.

I hate it because a lot of times, it's poorer folks coming to the building (hospital) for the first time and don't know about the street entrances or were instructed by their doctors to come through the garage for ease of access. We do have validated parking but that doesn't do any good when a person is just dropping someone off. It kills me when someone in an old beater has to pay $5 just to drop off an ill or injured loved one.

lol I did that by accident once picking my friend up so my other friends I was with and I just went in and walked around the airport while we waited

literally every one that I've ever been to that isn't literally a middle-of-city-parking-garage lets you out for free if you get out in less than 15 minutes (a.k.a. you didn't actually park, you just drove in and drove out). Some more generous ones let you out for free in less than 30 minutes.
