Like less than a year before Brexit they held a vote to become an independent nation. And they fucked it up and stayed in. Then Brexit happened. I heard alot of Scots wanted to stay in the EU

Yeah. You pricks spat at the idea of independence, and now look what happened. Hope you're happy, dickwads.

I mean, it isn't likely they could even get into the EU themselves, is it? So wouldn't have done em any good.

The EU said that if Scotland becomes independent they'll welcome us back.

Didn't some countries say they'd block any attempts?

I could be mistaken, but I swear I recall reading that Spain said they would.

They can't get into the EU because they're not a separate entity from the UK. They're stuck with the UK for good or worse.

I heard there were talks for a second independence vote as Brexit changes the context of the original vote.

I think what will actually happen is that the UK will hard brexit for a week or two, realize they're fucked, then beg to be let back in, completely ignoring the vote to brexit in the first place, and fake-Hillary will resign and some balding pompus prick will take her place.

Im not even sure how to begin starting to make sense of this.

To start with, my comment was based on the fact that Scotland could have separated and that it may not have done them any good if they still couldn't join the EU.

And May as a fake Hillary? Not really? While British politics in general is very liberal compared to America, she is still very much our conservative and not our liberal party.

Yep. Nicola Sturgeon's trying to get a second referendum going.

Also, I was wrong. Apparently one of the biggest hurdles to the second vote is that Scotland can only apply for EU membership after becoming independent and it isn't automatically accepted.

A few countries being obstructive naysayers can't stop Scotland from getting in. The EU benefits from having more members, not less, and they need to punish the UK (Which is I guess just England, Ireland, and Wales at this point due to hypothetical Scotland independence) as harshly as possible to discourage other countries from leaving.

By admitting Scotland as an indepdentent nation and kicking the rest of the UK to the curb, they set a precedent that you can't really leave the EU or you're fucked.

As a reluctant Yes voter, I do slightly regret that No won. I don't really like the direction the UK (and hence Scotland) is going in under the stewardship of Westminster. Scotland has unique challenges that can't really be tackled as things currently are, short of Westminster letting go of many more powers.

The No camp argued that because of the precedent Scottish independence would set for Catalonia's secession from Spain.

I don't disagree, but the EU doing what is best doesn't mean all its members will do it.
