As of now, I mean.

Both Fire Emblem and Splatoon are huge, despite Fire Emblem's popularity only coming in the last few years despite existing for over two decades prior, and Splatoon being a completely new IP introduced in 2015.

Nintendo also seems to be pretty fond of Xenoblade as well, and the series is seeing some moderate success (to the point that it was one of the first games shown at the Switch showcase in January), though Shulk getting into Smash 4 was a boost for the series' popularity.

When i hear "Core Nintendo Series" all i can think of are Mario, Zelda and Pokemon.

None of the games you mentioned are even close to those as far as popularity, Longevity or quality.

Fire Emblem is actually older than Pokemon.

I wouldn't consider any of them as core series, but out of the 3, Fire Emblem is the only one that can really be considered as such imo as it's the only one that's sold over 10 million games in total. Splatoon has only around 4.67 million and Xenoblade has around 2.41 million. (This isn't counting the games that haven't been released for obvious reasons.)

Yeah I think they're safely at that point now.

So what? Nintendo has several core franchises outside of those 3.

Fire Emblem, yes. It's not quite on the level of the big 3, but the surge in popularity in recent years has put it pretty close.

Splatoon and Xenoblade still have a long way to go.

Pretty much this though I'll never care for Splatoon

I didn't mean anything of it. Just in terms of longevity, Fire Emblem is older than Pokemon.

Fire Emblem is probably one of their core series. No point in limiting what's considered a core series when FE series as a whole at the moment is probably bringing way more money per year than Zelda did the last 4-5 years. Zelda is honestly not that big outside Western market. It doesn't sell particularly well in Japan, and most European countries and other Asian countries aren't that big of a market for Nintendo.

Splatoon is on its way to becoming core if that rumors of 80% attach rate in Japan is true lols but it really hasn't taken off in Western market to the same extent. Kids here love it though

Xenoblade is too niche. It's easily their best series at the moment, but it needs more games and more attention from Nintendo themselves. Their push for XC2 in E3 was fucking abysmal. I think it was in part because they didn't have enough time to create a sufficient showcase for E3. Whatever they showed was pretty rushed, since they just slapped a boss at a place and just kept as is whatever the first area probably had. But if that means they're 100% focusing on actually getting the game finished for 2017, I'm fine with that, too. But they seriously need to like reeeally push this game. Everything I see and read about this game gives me so much hope and urges

The success of Splatoon 1 has blasted that game right into being a major franchise for Nintendo. Especially in Japan. That's why we're seeing the Inkling in Mario Kart. Splatoon 2 is going to be one of the biggest Switch games in general. It'll be up there with Mario and Zelda and will overtake several of their long lasting IP's.

The Last of Us was the same for Sony. That's also a core franchise for Sony now even though they've only released one game with a sequel in development. TLOU2 is gonna be one of their best sellers. Looks like they're in the process of moving Horizon to that position as well.

You guys heavily underestimate FE, but FEH, as much as I hate it, brought in way more revenue than Super Mario Run or even most console games released by Nintendo recently in general. I wouldn't be surprised if FE brought more revenue than Mario or Zelda the last several years, but probably not Pokemon because Pokemon's Pokemon

Fire Emblem is definitely there though it carves a more specific niche than their heavy hitters. But hell it's at least around the same level as Kirby at this point.

Xenoblade is the most iffy but they're up to their third game in a pretty small period of time. That one depends on how you wanna define what a core franchise is I guess.

Yeah. It's kind of amazing that people would rather play a free game with microtransactions--and pay for those as well--as opposed to paying a one-time low payment for a full game and getting everything in it.

Probably due to Super Mario Odyssey being there. Like last year's E3, Nintendo's floor was Breath of the Wild themed. This year's floor was Super Mario Odyssey themed. I think if Xenoblade 2 came out at a different time with none of Ninty's heavy hitters coming out, it could have gotten that treatment. Sadly, we'll never know. Next year will probably be Prime 4 or Pokemon themed depending if those games actually release in 2018.

Fire Emblem is up there now I'd consider it a secondary series for nintendo. Splatoon is too new to be a core but if it stays strong it can become a core series. Xenoblade while I love it just doesn't have the pull to be a core series.

Nintendo outright said Fire Emblem is one of their core series now. I don't think they said anything about Splatoon and Xenoblade yet. To be fair, it is still way too early. Both only have 2 official main entries.
