In terms of exploration, absolutely. In terms of story and populating the world, not at all.

I haven't played TW3, but BotW got started to get boring after I finished the Zora's stuff.
It got dull when I finished all of the towers and had seen all of Hyrule though. As long as TW3 doesn't do that to me, or as long as it doesn't do it as early I'd consider it better. --- ... Copied to Clipboard!

I personally enjoy Bloodborne and Dark Souls 3 more, but the two titles in the OP are usually heralded as being the best (so far) from this gen

They're different games doing very different things. The strengths of one game isn't a huge focus in the other. I love both of them for different reasons. I'd consider them both the top games of the generation.

Very easily
I still don't understand the love for W3 yet. It's not bad, but I've still yet to have anything even memorable happen in what I've played of it (last stopped a bit after getting to Skellige). Like, I keep playing and doing stuff and it still feels like nothing happens. I still prefer W2 so far. BotW on the other hand wows you right out of the gate and doesn't get old. --- ... Yeah. I went into BotW with low expectations but became almost immediately hooked. I just couldn't get into the Witcher 3 though.
