I don't like blonde girls, like at all. Is saying I don't like blondies now a "sexual preference insult"?

There was a topic the other day questioning why Emma Watson was cast as Belle in Beauty and the Beast because she was "flat-chested", didn't see that got modded, seems like a "sexual preference insult" to me.

It's totally missing the context of WHY some gay me use it negatively.

Some gay men have a negative opinion on twinks because they're ridiculously abundant in gay hot spots and media. There's so many because there's not a lot of requirements to fitting the general description of a twink. A guy basically just needs to be young, clean shaven, and not ugly. That's like over 50% of college age gay males...

If you're attracted to twinks, the high numbers are good for you and makes them easy to find. However, if twinks are not your type...them being everywhere can get old real fast. Especially if you're an attractive guy yourself looking for other types of partners, because a big chunk of the messages you receive will be twink spam.


There's also the occasions when twinks and bears don't get along, because the typical traits of those communities can be at different ends of the spectrum. And they BOTH can end up using the term for the other group as a negative description. Where's the outcry about twinks discriminating against bears? Until I see it, I don't give a shit what some half assed Wiki entry says rofl.

There's nothing I can do about it, as it's been upheld at the first level. All he can do is appeal to LM, and argue why twink isn't a gay slur. The other part of the message is that @Parappa09 was tagged in that post. The upholding mod (and likely the acting mod) thought TC was using sexuality as an insult there by tagging him.

twink is not innately a slur
it's only intended as an insult when it's said by someone who's basically sick of dealing with twinks
some gay men take it as a compliment because it implies they still look young

i'm lgbt but not male and even i know this lol
there's good twinks with cute personalities, but there's a lot of annoying ones out there too

That's just stupid. I've only ever heard it used for toons in games and to refer to pretty boys

"Twink" in the context of gaming (video and table top) refers to the act of micro-managing the mechanics of the game to get the absolute most out of your character. It's also referred to as "min-maxing".

Friend just looked it up. Never heard the term in the MMOs I've played but the origin of the term apparently comes from how the gay community uses it so that just makes it even sadder to be moderated for it. As for the min-maxing def... never heard that one either but that's not even an insult. Seriously, obscure as hell definition over the incredibly common use of the term... better side with the one that'll get this fuy moderated! Meh, at least no one else agrees with that mod.

This. It can be used elsewhere but it's easiest by far in games like WoW - especially WoW, with how battlegrounds used to be handled. Get a high-level character to run a level 19 through dungeons with the best level 19-ish gear and throw them into PvP against people who probably have a couple crafted greens at best.

Now I'm curious to see what wikipedia says on the origins of the gay slang term.

The term is derived from the snack cake Twinkie, commonly regarded as the quintessential junk food: "little nutritional value, sweet to the taste and creme-filled."
