My problem with PS exclusives is this

MOST (Not all, MOST) very good exclusive fall within one of these categories.

Ultra Realistic story driven games (Last of Us, Heavy Rain, Until Dawn)
Or
Japanese RPG or something similar (Persona 5)

Two categories I could care less about. The one thing I wish I could play is MLB the Show. MLB is very fun lol.

Nobody cares about 4K outside of enthusiasts, and there is no way they're buying a Xbox One X when they can get a far better PC.

Mario and Zelda still made bank on Gamecube but it didn't have a mainline Pokémon game. Wii U didn't have a Zelda or Pokémon exclusive but Mario still made bank on there even though the console flopped.

Switch is getting all of these heavy hitters out in the first year or two. On top of this it's gonna have the system sellers of both the console and handhelds. Which is pretty unprecedented.

Wii U failed no doubt. It was a massive marketing failure by failing to distinguish itself from the similarly named Wii. There also was not many mainline games for it. No pokemon or good pokemon spinoffs were released Pokken was very good but it is a fighting game No metroid game was released for the console (I think some were ported over) and Zelda Skyward Sword was not as good as the games that came before or after. Nintendo is hot now with basically their second attempt at the same console.

Gamecube you could argue failed but through the Wii the GC library lived on and made money. Some of Nintendos best work ever came on the GC.

-Wind Waker
-Smash Melee
-Paper Mario TTYD
and a ton others

Also if you only count the library of games, me personally I think the Gamecube has the best library of games of any system ever. To be fair I did grow up with a GC so I may be a bit bias but still. Soooooooooo many games were excellent

Anyway, I hated what XBoxOne was planning to do with their system so they lost my money for that console. Just absolute hatred for their attempts at restricting games and media so much and how they would have gone through with it if the PS4 hadn't said "yeah, we're not doing that".

If an exclusive sells a couple of million you can't really overlook the potential impact that could have. These 2 million people are players that can bring more people into that ecosystem to play with them. And it grows from there. Which is why sales momentum for a console is important.
