5 years ago i was living in a house so he was able to roam around outside to his heart's content. moved into an apartment, so he was not able to really go outside except for the balcony. am moving in a house again, so if i bring him with me he will be able to go outside once more, which is probably his favourite thing ever. when i was at the old house he didn't have a collar and wasn't microchipped, but now if i bring him with me i'm a bit more nervous he might get stolen or something because it's downtown, whereas we used to live in a suburb where stealing or whatever is not really super common. i'm basically a bit more worried than i was when i was living in the old house, i really don't want anything bad to happen to him or lose him etc. so part of my reasoning for letting him stay with my mom is that it's just a lot safer.

Get him chipped, then keep him inside for the first couple of weeks you're in the new place so that he knows where home is.

If you are downtown don't let him out.
