Of course.

If you're happiness hinges on the amount of food you consume, I suggest seeking some counseling.

It's really kind of intuitive that being hungry makes you unhappy, tbh. Plus there's the matter of quality vs quantity. Salads are terribly unsatisfying. That is, the kind of salad that won't make you fat.

1. I'm talking about overeating. If you are unhappy unless you overeat, you need to seek counseling.
2. Heatly food can absolutely be satisfying. Salads aren't the only option for healthy food.

1. What is a counselor going to do? Hypnotize me into not liking cheeseburgers, and liking berries instead? Or hey, maybe he can hypnotize my stomach into not being hungry.

my uncle was overweight almost his entire life and lived his life by the philosophy you outlined in scenario #2. he put on a bunch of pounds in college and never lost it. he was like 300 pounds for the majority of his adult life that i can remember. he would often tell me "Giant_Aspirin, I know that being this overweight and eating like I do is unhealthy, but I'd rather live my life the way I want to and enjoy it to the fullest while I am here rather than deprive myself of pleasure so I can live longer. A life devoid of pleasure isn't a life worth living".

he had a massive heart attack and died when he was 70. thing is, the last six months of his life he wanted to turn things around. he realized that he was approaching the end of his days, especially if he didn't change his habits, and he wasn't quite ready to go. he had just found a new girlfriend like a year prior and they were very much in love. he also had two grandchildren who made him happier than anything had since his daughter. he wasn't ready to go. unfortunately, his decades of neglecting his health caught up with him and it was too little, too late.

i understand the sentiment and i mostly agree with it. however, you need to find a balance between maximizing pleasure while minimizing damage to your body. so while i love to eat and really enjoy many foods that are bad for me, i eat them in moderation and balance them out with healthy stuff.

I went from fat to slim and I've never been happier so you're wrong there.

And there is literally nothing wrong with eating veggies and salad and chicken, because even if you don't like how they taste, they're pretty much the most basic food to change to your liking.

See the key isn't to starve yourself, or to cut out all sugar, or go and run 10 miles every day, but you have to lower the amount of unhealthy food that you put into your body.

Well it varies but this might be a common one:

1/2 cup of cheerios for breakfast
Peanut butter sandwich and four of those giant pretzel sticks for lunch
Some fruit for snack, maybe cantaloupe and a banana
Smoked sausage, rice, broccoli dish Mrs. DevsBro makes for dinner. Cheese on top is probably the biggest offender.

About three times a month I'll get some fast food.

the key is to smoke a cigar before every unhealthy meal. the cigar smoke you inhale will fill up your stomach and curb the hunger, and then you can eat a reasonable portion and enjoy a great smoky flavor with any meat you are consuming
