i mean sure, the movie is great but the hype feels way too overdone right now. Articles like 'smashing box office records', 'setting a new precedent in movies', 'legendary film' or whatever is getting kind of tiring.

The movie isn't setting a record for anything much, it's grossing basically the sum of an average superhero film these days or a typical successful blockbuster.

So what's with all the attention? Is the media just being SJW in support of feminism or what?

Cause Women.

Which is like, whatever. It's not hurting anyone and at least the movie is good. It isn't like they're hyping up trash.

the average rating on RT is 7.5. I have no idea how people still don't grasp that the % isn't actually the reliable movie score, just the % of critics that liked it.

7.5 is about the perfect score for the movie. It's well made for the most part and the characters keep everything held together and make up for the mediocre action sequences. Rings very similar to the MCU but the script is a lot, lot better than a good number of recent MCU outings since there's more genuine drama in Wonder Woman.

The media is definitely overhyping it though. Logan is the best the genre is going to get for a very long time.

i think the whole "WW is empowering females across the globe / this is a victory for women!" thing is 100% marketing BS.

makes it sound like women were marching in the streets and throwing trash cans through shop windows in order to get their own superhero movie (lol), when in reality what i am positive happened is that the handful of old white men that run the major film studio(s) involved with WW had their market research division tell them that the market is ripe at this point for a female-led superhero movie, and so they made it.

film studios and corporations are not your friends; they're in the business of making money. they made the WW movie because it will give returns to the shareholders, companies involved, and employees. the SOCIAL CHANGE aspect of this movie is just white noise to make the average American feel like he/she is changing the world by watching comic book movie #1218987.

Decent movie tho. Dark Knight still the best superhero movie IMO

This is the 2nd or 3rd time I've heard of someone doing that

I mean it was an awesome scene, but also kind of hammy the way she approached on the field in slo-motion. It didn't even seem like a scene that should invoke that kind of reaction
