Is P4G significantly better? I don't hate the concept or gameplay itself in 3FES but I don't really care about any of these characters I'm spending time with right now (the arcana level up quests, not the main team, who I do like, but can't seem to do much relationship stuff with)

I don't mind that, Ace Attorney, MGS, Prof Layton are some of my favorite series

I just don't care about Persona 3's characters or social links at all.

The characters in 4 are less interesting imo. I liked the setting and everything in 3 over 4.

4 is less dark, it has more comedy, funny fan service moments and even more story parts, which means reading/listening through very long conversations. Hell, the intro part is like 3 hours before you fight an enemy.

Tbh, you probably won't like 4 either.

Edit:

I mean social links, not main chars. Kanji is one of my favorite jrpg characters ever.

Kenji and Kaz are both the worst S Links in the series and they give them to you right at the start >_> I'd say hang in there for better s links and see if it still hooks you

Yep, those are the two exact social links I was doing the last time I was playing the game

I guess I'll try again but I don't care about those two fuckers, Kaz seemed like he was gonna be interesting for a moment and then it's just like I-I have asthma :( like dude I could've spent this time leveling up charisma or whatever

Well you're missing out. I loved P3 when it came out. After playing P4 and P5 though, P3 is trash too me. The main issue is you can't control the party members.

P5 is my favorite in the series now, I still prefer 3 to 4 though. But I played the version where you can control your party members. 3 still has my favorite story in the series.

If you like the gameplay, but aren't too into the story telling, I'd recommend playing mainline SMT.
