They'll likely drop the "hybrid" idea no matter what. But whether they go full handheld or full console probably depends on whether the Switch is long-term successful and if so what kind of support makes it successful.
Of course if long-term sales of Switch start to tank they'll shift back over to the 3DS while they get a successor for that ready.

If they ever go back to a handheld/console divide, they better keep making greater effort to have portable games fully playable on a TV. Shouldn't have stopped trying with Wii/DS.

Their games will be designed for mobile devices and they'll sell something similar to a pstv that you can buy if you still want to play your games on a tv. The save data will be stored in the cloud
