I still don't get this birth rate fad. Most developed countries have falling birth rates, including the US. With the increase in sex education it's only natural for more educated societies to have less children. Germany has an even lower birth rate than Japan. The main difference is that Japan isn't as welcoming towards foreigners so the thing to criticize about should be the declining population or hard to access immigration. People who jab on about birth rates just look extremely ignorant.

You are missing the point of the birth rate problem with Japan. Japan isn't creating enough younger people to match the aging population so they have too many old people who are taking resources from the country and not enough young people putting resources in. Birth rates may fall when mass production of babies isn't needed, but you still need to have enough babies being born to offset the aging population.

Like I said, the majority of developed countries are like this. Western European countries specifically have had this "issue" on the same level and with some countries, like Germany, even worse than Japan. You're just being willfully blind on the issue.

No. You need enough babies being born or immigrants arriving to offset the aging population.

And Japan happens to be very anti-immigrants. If they don't want to bring in new people for their population, they need to create new people. Except they aren't, because of their toxic work culture. Now the Japan government is trying to get young people to start families, it's just not working.
