This cop obviously is in the wrong line of work. I don't think he's a bad person - I just think he's not mentally prepared to be a police officer.

Now we never saw what went down in the car, so I agree with the verdict, but this dude needs to get away from the lime light. Thank god he isn't a cop anymore...

Horrible tragedy.

messing up a sales pitch is "being in the wrong line of work." gunning down a guy in his own fucking car because he told you he has a concealed carry permit is committing fucking homicide.

cop should get life in jail, but of course the police are above the law

His quality as a person is really irrelevant. You don't need to be an irredeemable evil sack of shit to fuck up so bad that you kill someone and deserve to be tossed in prison for a while.

Forgetting to put ice in someone's drink is an oops-a-daisy. Killing a man is a slightly bigger fuck up.

The police department should hold some culpability as well for allowing such an incompetent person to hold such a powerful position and be near killing tools.

I feel for the cop. I would feel the same way in that situation. It would instantly make you think that the guy is up to no good and potential trouble. Then he says he has a gun and starts reaching for stuff even after you tell him to not to and.... yeah well the rest is history.

Do you feel for the innocent man that was killed by a cop who fears for his life at the smell of pot? This revelation really makes the cop look bad because it means he was ready to shoot this guy before he even knew he carried.

Well that's a pretty terrible explanation. I could see how the smell of weed could make him suspicious, not scared for his life. Although technically of Castile was high he wasn't even legally carrying.

There is reasonable doubt. Although there's no question the guy panicked and didn't follow procedure. The reason I say there's doubt is because we cannot see what is happening in the car.

The 7 shots is pretty much proof he flew off the deep end. He wasn't proud of what he (thought) he had to do, and was visibly shaken. He didn't do it on purpose, but rather, out of fear. This is why I say he was in the wrong line of work. He just didn't follow procedure and panicked. Ask yourself: What danger does this guy bring to the community as a private citizen?

That was one of the worst videos I've ever seen. I understand being mad or hating the cop - totally justified. The guy flew off the handle and deserves criticism and blame. This is why we need cops to have body cams - actually. I think this case would've been more conclusive if he had one on, and we can see PRECISELY what happened inside the vehicle.

If smelling like weed was enough to make cops fear for their life, half the people I know would be dead by now.
