Wanted yellow, or diamond/pearl remakes, or at the very least, stars, got ultra sun/moon

Why don't they stick to their formula of new game > remake > 3rd installment

I'm glad they are shying away from the 3rd installment trend, its lazy and they never have enough new in them to warrant another purchase

Well making a full Pokemon game for a console is going to take a lot more time and work than I'm sure they had to do before.

black and white 2 was a whole new game, just set in the same place
as opposed to platinum or emerald witch is the same game with slight changes
I can only hope USM follows the president set by the first sequels

There's no reason to remake Gen 4 since Gen 4 is already 3DS compatible. Every generation is now available for use on the 3DS with the ability to transfer Pokemon from that generation, thus removing the current need for a remake. However, the one with the greatest need might still be gen 1 since its remake is incompatible with current systems although it does have a port with a transfer-forward option.

Only when the franchise is finally dying or dead. If not for the audience including lots of younger players, I would half think that they would eventually try a MMO with multiple regions. Plus it'd be kinda neat to have a limited new game+ option which locks your team away and lets you restart the game, possibly selecting a non-starter as well to accompany your Bulbasaur.

what?

1st gen had yellow

second gen had crystal

third gen had emerald, remakes of 1st gen

fourth gen had platinum, remakes of second gen

fifth gen had BW2

sixth gen had remakes of third gen

seventh gen has sm2

8th gen will be remakes of 4th gen.

9th gen will have sequels

this is a far better formula than making a third game with slight differences in the weak "story"

Yeah, there's never been a consistent formula per generation other than, up until gen 5, the habit of releasing a somewhat improved third game.

Also I doubt we'd see a Gen4 remake in Gen8 since Gen4 isn't *that* far past and you can still play it via the DS game. Gen 3 was justified since the 3DS -- and later DS models -- have no gba support.
