Just gonna go ahead and tag the precious few people here I think will be familiar with the dude based on Babylon 5 familiarity. He was also Flounder on Animal House, too.

I can't really remember who all likes the show other than them. Weird request: please spoiler tag any potential spoilers if you discuss the show here. Eddv is watching it for the first time right now.

Anyway, TMZ is reporting it's confirmed, but here's the original Facebook post from Stephen's two sons.

Actor and comedian Stephen Furst died on June 16, 2017 due to complications from diabetes.

Steve has a long list of earthly accomplishments. He was known to the world as an brilliant and prolific actor and filmmaker, but to his family and many dear friends he was also a beloved husband, father and kind friend whose memory will always be a blessing.

To truly honor him, do not cry for the loss of Stephen Furst. But rather, enjoy memories of all the times he made you snicker, laugh, or even snort to your own embarrassment. He intensely believed that laugher is the best therapy, and he would want us to practice that now.

If you knew him personally, remember his gift for lighting up a room. And no matter who you are, when you think of Steve, instead of being sad, celebrate his life by watching one of his movies or use one of his bits to make someone else laugh - really, really hard.

Sincerely,

His sons Nathan and Griffith Furst

To tackle the elephant in the room, yes, this is entirely too many deceased actors for a television series which ended its run fewer than 20 years ago. Michael O'Hare, Jerry Doyle, Andreas Katsulas, Richard Biggs, Jeff Conway, Tim Choate, and now Stephen Furst. I am not superstitious but I would be kind of scared these days if I were a surviving male actor. The women are all doing fine, at least. It's weird though and it sucks. The show is old but it isn't exactly ancient.

Let's have a 21 "Vir" salute to commemorate his passing.

VIIIIIIIIIIIIIIRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

I'm pretty sure that portraying Ivanova has granted Claudia Christian a degree of immortality, at least.

This is fair. And welcome.

I'm rewatching it now, as it happens. I write reviews for every episode on another site.

I really loved Babylon 5, and Vir was definitely one of my favorite characters >_< (Though to be honest, the amount of characters I didn't like from that show could probably be counted on one hand)

I also remember Stephen Furst for playing Booster in Buzz Lightyear of Star Command, too.

It's a great shame - he was a loveable actor and very memorable to boot.

I still love the scene where Vir is being groomed to be Ambassador and tries to confront someone who planted a bug on some fruit he bought, only for his reputation as a coward to bite him in the ass... until he grabs Londo's sword and goes on the offensive and terrifies the jackass, lol. Ambassador? More like Ambadassador.

I'll miss him....
