Like when you start up Breath of the Wild, the first thing you're doing is watching a meaningless cutscene. A bright light. Some sparkly blue stuff. A fancy voiceover telling Link to wake up. It goes on for literal minutes and serves no purpose. It's just pointless bloat.

I agree completely, although I don't like your example.

Too many otherwise good WRPGs are tainted by courier quests and other boring shit that tries to stretch the game to 200 hours.

Neither does anything else that's aesthetic or cosmetic. It doesn't mean it has no purpose or value just because it doesn't directly, physically affect the gameplay.

I agree but intros aren't bloat imo. RE6 having a cutscene every 20 seconds of a boss fight is bloat.

The intro is just a single example of it. Obviously I don't consider only the intro to be 'too much', but it's a symptom of what the problem is - Games illustrating or drumming up every little thing in the game. Like Andromeda's stupid thing where you had to watch the ship take off everytime you went anywhere.

I just want to play the game. Not watch frilly shit.
