What if when you go out to eat you choose a meat dish for yourself.

Would the Vegan get upset and call you a murderer then not be your friend?

I have a non strict vegetarian. They try to only eat vegetarian but if im having meat they will occasionally join in. I dont get to see them much anymore though.

one of my ex girlfriends was an Indian/hindu vegan but i sure as hell gave her a lot of meat when we were together.

My sister is a vegan... and its so annoying at times. I constantly hear about 'animal suffering' and how I should try 'fake chicken' and stuff like that... the food is nasty that Ive tried, and I can't go out to eat with her and her husband.

Two of my best friends are vegetarian. They've never gone on at me for eating meat.

I'd say they get more people criticising their vegetarianism in a month than they have criticised non-vegetarians, ever.

Never hear them say "Ew you shouldn't eat meat". But I do hear plenty of people around them say "Why don't you eat meat? xD" all the time.

It was fine because she never criticized me or questioned me on my personal tastes. I barely even noticed she was vegan. She just ate what she wanted and I honestly couldn't give a shit what she's eating. Like, we dated a long time and I didn't even really consciously know she was vegan until I actually thought about it.

Same girl became completely unbearable as just friends though. She was hiding her crazy veganness from me while I was her boyfriend, but would constantly pop off about stupid vegan shit and about my diet in general when we weren't in a relationship anymore.

Writing out this kind of made me realize that she must've been really into me while we were together, if she didn't want to fuck things up by trying to force veganism on me.


...should I call her?

Militant vegans are shit, but the rest are reasonable people.

Out of courtesy I sometimes order a salad when dining out with vegan friends, because I don't want to be the only one enjoying the experience. Although, when I want a damn steak, they're respectful enough to shut the fuck up about it. They understand that accepting an invitation to dine out with an omnivore sometimes means seeing meat on a plate. They're not crybabies about it, so I return the favor.

Vegans who aren't crazy tend to also have inventive recipes that can educate you on alternative sources of protein and how to make it actually taste good. So as an avid cook, it doesn't hurt to know a couple of them to better your own cooking.

I've met probably 20x more people that say things like "How do you know someone's a vegan?" and "for every animal you don't eat" than actual vegans/vegetarians. The militant vegan meme has really propagated, it's about as widespread as the "cats are evil" meme at this point
