AM2R was brilliant. I wish they had just paid that dude. The visuals of Nintendo's version just don't really do it for me.

This is the first I'm hearing of this. Is this like an actual remake like what theyre doing with FF7, or like an HD graphical face lift?

They were likely deep into development of the remake when they heard about AM2R. No way they were gonna just scrap their development and eat the cost on it.

AM2R is Zero Mission graphics. Nintendo's is undoubtedly better.

AM2R, or Another Metroid 2 Remake, is a fan made total conversion mod of Zero Mission. It turns remade the game to be more like Samus Returns, and is frankly amazing. It got a DMCA from Nintendo once it was completely, but you can still find it out there if you look. If you're jonesing for a Metroid fix, its damn sure worth your time

Something that impressed me about AM2R was how it seemed to play and feel exactly like Metroid Fusion. The visuals, and especially the gameplay/physics felt exactly like Fusion.

But that's what bothered me about it. I don't really care for how Fusion and Zero Mission play. I would have loved AM2R a million times more if they had put all that time and effort into trying to make it look and feel exactly like Super Metroid instead.

Looks nice. And still a side scroller with the advances of 3D gaming. Though I hope they offer/port it on the Wii U or Switch so I can play it on a console.

Im pretty ignorant of PC gaming, which I am assuming the avenue needed to play it, but I'll try and look into it.

It really couldn't, That game did everything right. The limit of the hardware is what is going to set Nintendo's version back. I love the 3DS but its 3D graphics are REALLY damn ugly in 2017. Sprites are where it's at.

Lol, everyone says that. I played 1 & 2 on the Gamecube when they came out and I guess got real accustomed to them. Plus the GBA Metroid games. I actually haven't finished 3 because I cannot get use to using the wiimote. However I bought Metroid Trilogy for my son because he didn't like the Gamecube controls. So ... I dunno.

People say that about Resident Evil 4 but I still prefer the Gamecube controller.

if nintendo supported it am2r would've been even better but at the moment it's just pretty good but it is most definitely a fan game and not a professional product which sets it back from being excellent as opposed to just pretty good

At one point, I played so much games with the Wiimote that I actually had a hard time going back to non-motion controls for a while :P. When it's done well, it's seriously like almost better than K+M for shooters

MP3 is like the only game for whatever reason I did not find it as good as traditional controls. I didn't like the gimmick used so much in Skyward Sword but overall controls are fine.

And RE4 might be the best RE game because of the Wiimote. Though I like 5 a lot too.
