dvd to blu ray
I can't watch dvds now. You start watching blu rays and films in hd for long enough and you go back to dvds and you realise you can't actually make out the faces and any kind of writing a lot of the time, it was just your mind filling in the blanks ... Copied to Clipboard!

VHS to DVD changed so many things about the way we watch movies fundamentally, it was a much bigger difference than any resolution bump alone could be.

VHS to DVD was by far the biggest jump in quality - this coming from someone who still has two VCRs hooked up to TVs in his home and a third in the garage. The thing with DVD->BluRay and BR->4K is it's quite dependent on the TV, whereas VHS->DVD is obvious regardless of the TV. I have a 480i CRT TV in my spare room that has a built-in VCR and also has my PS2 hooked up to it. It I watch the same movie, I can tell a significant difference there, and the difference only widens with improved TVs. However, when I look at those side-by-side comparisons in Best Buy showcasing the difference between BR and 4K, I can't really notice a significant difference unless the TV is much bigger than I really need for my home.
I'm not saying there's no difference, but it honestly is not enough for me to rush out and buy a new TV just for 4K. 1080 and BR work just fine for me. --- All Things Final Fantasy: http://gmo7897.com/s/atff | LostFacts: http://gmo7897.com/s/lf There are some walks you have to take alone. ... In terms of pure fidelity, 4k - BR > BR - DVD, and really VHS > 8k, 16k, 32k, freaking 1024G.

I'm sure the technical answer is 4k, as the raw numbers it's a higher gain but obviously from perception, VHS to DVD.
