Just started playing... gameplay seems great, controls are abhorrent. Can't even be fucked.

It plays like Metroid Prime Hunters it's like a regular FPS on consoles you move with the left analog and the stylus is the right stick used to aim and you shoot with the shoulder button....

Metroid Prime Hunters had some extremely precise controls.

Get to top levels of death match and the twitch headshots got fucking nuts. Near PC control levels of twitch frags.

It's awkward as fuck. It feels like the stylus controls are just there for the sake of it.

I haven't played it.

But if it's actually like Prime Hunters, you can get much more precise control than you can on a console.

I legitimately can't imagine any better controls, honestly. Outside of potentially M/KB but that's a moot point seeing as it's a 3DS game.

Well, you aren't the only one that doesn't like these sorts of controls. People complained with Prime Hunters and Star Fox.

support the 3DS with your left hand (only need 3 fingers max) and pinky of your right hand.

still have thumb for circle pad and rest of fingers for stylus

Yeah exactly. There were a lot of snipers on KI:U later in its life because people got super precise and good at it

I think it's something you get used to

Double Analog wouldn't have worked for it either. The game had enemies coming from all sorts of directions and you had to constantly swipe your camera all over the place really really quickly. For 180 turning, this control is actually better than K+M

When you think about it, Nintendo does shooters better than the competition. More precision and complexity/variety held back by console limitations and weird market demographics

This. It sucks for people who cramp from the controls, but it's really the best option for the gameplay. And it's one of my favorite games ever.

Just try to find a position that suits you best TC.

Easy enough to make with duping/cloning. We've also long since figured out fusion before the game died.

I always love the people who call the controls broken... and in that same topic there are always like a bunch of people who genuinely think that controls scheme is the closest to K+M in effectiveness in shooters. Obviously if there are people who know how to use the controls, it's not really broken, and the player who can't use it is to fault. But yes, it's not the most comfortable thing to play this if you lack left hand strength

I'm a lefty and played the game competitively at its prime. The only real disadvantage for using the lefty controls is dodging. For the regular dodging you have to move the circle pad all the way, but with lefty controls you have to double tap the dpad. That doesn't seem like much but there are shots that are either too quick for lefties unless you predict or some shots that home in on you and circle you and you can't do the precise dodging required.

Depends on the person. If you use righty controls from the start and force yourself to learn you'll be fine. Lefty it depends. I did fine with them, but wish I learned righty controls as it matters more at higher level of pvp

I was mostly scoffing at the value

But, please, tell me more about duping/cloning and the mechanics behind fusion for... science

Mostly because I want a good solo mode weapon and my darkness bow isn't cutting it for intensity 9 anymore
