That doesn't exactly make it a tasteful decision to assassinate the president in effigy.

Also, Caesar was not a villain. His death is depicted as tragic. They were so hellbent on killing off Trump, they didn't even care that the play they chose doesn't depict him as the villain they see him as.

It was dumb when the right were doing crap like this when Obama was in office and it's dumb now.

This is one of the big problems with politics. For all of people's posturing, there comes a point where it simply boils down to, "It's okay when we do it."

If Hillary had won, and Republicans had put together a play depicting Hillary Clinton as Lady Macbeth, news media would have treated it like a hate crime against women.

But we take a play where a political leader is assassinated, swap out the tragic victim for a president we really dislike, and it's a-okay. Even if it doesn't make sense from a narrative perspective, even if it's tasteless and petty. We hate this asshole so much, that anything we do is okay because we, the good guys, did it against him, the bad guy.

When was this done during Obama's tenure? The closest thing I remember is a rodeo clown made to look like Obama. And, yeah, it was in pretty poor taste.

I'm not talking about the historical Julius Caesar. I'm talking about the play. I doubt if Brutus was anywhere near as noble and mislead as the play makes him out to be.
