Went to one recently and ended up going on 3 rides the entire day. 3 freaking rides due to the insane long lines. And then the games are expensive and fixed for you to lose. And food and beverages are overpriced ($5 for a bottle of pop and $10 for a slice of pizza). I thought they were supposed to be an escape from the troubles of life, but I ended up frustrated there.

It's silly. I mean you pay $70 for tickets just to ride a couple if rides due to stupid lines. Waste of money

Gotta be savvy about when you're going. You can either get great value or shit value depending on your timing.

If you go as soon as it opens and head for the most popular rides first, then you can have enough time to go on like 10 or so rides by the end of the day. If you're with the right people, it can be some of the most fun you'll ever have

It just depends on the amusement park, and when you go. Going to Disney World for the summer is suicide.

I have a local one near me (Dollywood), and if I go during a school day it's great.

We went to Disney World end of last year and I thought I was gonna have to sell my kidneys to pay for it. Everything there is so fucking expensive. I'm more used to Cedar Point prices, which are still high but Disney is ridiculous. I blinked and had spent $1200.

You gotta get all that bad shit out of your head before you go. Yes it's crazy expensive, yes there's a lot of people, yes yes yes. But you plan for that. Save up a few extra dollars. Go during the week and not the weekend. Shit like that will make it a lot better.

Yup, we'd wake up sometimes and just decide to go. And my grandparents lived real close so they knew all the tips. Most of the time with them we'd get our hand stamped and drive down the road and get some fast food.

Went one slow day and me and my buddies kept riding that roller coaster that had a normal way version and a reverse way version. Fuckin killing me that I can't remember the name. And the Hurler was always a favorite.

This is pretty much how you do it, taking a vacation day in the middle of the week and not going in the middle of the summer are the way to go.

Disney world has a great system to avoid long lines. Their fast pass system lets you walk past the line and right onto the ride at specific times. It also has an app that tells the wait time for all the rides.

Only three rides? Even during Disneyland, Knott's and Magic Mountain's peak seasons we've gone on more then that. And that was without a fast pass. Go during Autumn or winter next time, but not around the holidays and you will be on all but the most popular and newest rides in a matter of minutes.

They're fun, you build memories with loved ones.

Practical Tips: Don't go alone. This minimizes costs like gas and parking when other people are helping to pay.

Get there during off season and early in the morning.

Bring a cooler and take your own water anyway. Go out and eat lunch and snacks in the car, grab dinner at a fast food joint. They're all around because amusement parks are good for their business. Amusement park food is mediocre and overpriced.

Shop for deals. I've gotten sweeter deals online then I have at the front gate. If your a local, a season pass is to your benefit.

Look for coupons, some places like restaurants give out free amusement park coupons.

Perhaps it's just not your gig. That's okay too.

i agree no one likes long lines, but is any entertainment proposition perfect? I mean i would still take long ass lines over going to some boring baseball game any day. Btw, which amusement park did you go to?

Yeah off peak is key. My favorite amusement park visit ever was Disneyland on a wet/cold Tuesday in December (it wasn't actively raining at all). The longest line for any ride was 15 minutes. Was a joy. I know you can't always plan it, but weekends/holidays with bright sunny weather are much harder to enjoy and I agree, not worth it.

FFS, how many people were you with, slowing you down? I went to Disneyland by myself a few years ago, and I managed to ride every single ride! True I used fast pass on some rides, but I hade to wait in line on others, but I still got it all done! I even took food and shopping breaks!
